When I was a VP of Operations I was navigating one of the hardest seasons of my leadership. Office politics. People who had more experience than me. A version of myself that was showing up passive, uncertain, and shrinking in the rooms that mattered most.
My boss noticed. He told me I needed to shift. That I needed to lead differently or the people around me would never see me as the leader I actually was.
So I joined a year long embodied leadership program. The workshops were four hours long, in the middle of the workday, once a month. When I signed up I thought there was absolutely no way I could make it work. I was a VP. My calendar was not my own.
But I understood that the thing keeping me stuck was that I had given my time to everyone else and had nothing left for myself. So I blocked the calendar. Every single month for a year.
Those four hour blocks changed everything. Not just how I led at work. How I showed up at home. How I spoke. How I moved through the world.
